Brief Description

Crosby Composites are based in Brackley in Northamptonshire, they are looking for a Composite Laminator Apprentice. Your job will be to learn how to read technical drawings, follow manuals, learn pre-preg and autoclave processes, the bonding of parts and how to follow route cards and much more. You will be trained step by step in their processes.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will ideally need to have GCSE grades 9-4 (A*- C) in English and maths or the ability to work towards Level 2 Functional Skills during the programme.

Vacancy Detail

This company are looking for a Composite Apprentice, and will help you achieve your engineering qualification.
When it comes to making a product and how to make it to the best quality possible, the successful apprentice will be trained step by step in the processes of Crosby Composites

You will be provided with in-depth training and appointed with your own mentor to help you in detail when working on jobs. You will be trained to ensure that the quality is the best that it can be.
You will be reporting to the Kit-Cutting and Laminating Supervisor
You will learn how to do the following:
- Read technical drawings
- Follow manuals
- Pre-preg - which is impregnated carbon fibre with resin. It is the condition of the carbon fibre the company use
- Autoclave processes - which is an oven that essentially cooks the carbon fibre material to make the solid part
- Bonding of parts
- Follow route cards
- Layer material into moulds and be precise in making sure all corners are pushed in
- Ensure the workshop safety is practiced at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment

After a couple of months and having worked in both the Laminating and Trim departments, the supervisors will then review your skills and knowledge, as well as take on board what you feel is better suited to you and your focus will then move onto just one of the departments.
