Brief Description

Are you interested in starting a career in Engineering? Herts Mechanical Handling Services Limited (HMHS) are looking for an Engineering Apprentice to work within their team of experienced materials handling engineers to install, service, fault find and decommission materials handling systems.

Qualifications Required

You will ideally hold a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) or Level 2 equivalent, ideally including English, Maths, Science.

Vacancy Detail

As a well established company in the installation and maintenance of integrated material handling systems, HMHS have been supplying, installing and relocating systems for over 30 years. Their international client base is wide spread, spanning the UK, Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, Russia and The Middle East.

They are looking for an Apprentice to work with their team of experienced and friendly Engineers to learn their trade; which includes installation, servicing, fault finding and decommissioning materials handling systems.

So what will you be learning?

You will attend breakdowns, diagnose failure, return machine to operation and record the job on the company's maintenance software system.

You will be setting out equipment in approximate position referring to drawings, using mechanical lifting devices, manual handling and specialist lifting.

As well as this you will be assembling the parts in the correct and proper manner ensuring alignment and level are to drawings and within tolerances.

You will liase with other team members and management to assist with identification of items which may need to be purchased to resolve the breakdown.

You will also learn how to carry out planned maintenance on materials handling equipment to agreed standards.

Liaise with customers when on site, explaining work done, work required and to represent the company in a professional manner.

You will be doing final checks to ensure quality.

Track and tension conveyors including belts, chains and rollers

Assist in the commissioning of the system, including designing, installing, testing, operating, and maintaining.

You will be unpacking and checking deliveries.

Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes, whilst under the instruction of skilled technical staff.

you will be learning, understanding and applying H&S in the workplace.

You will be developing skills to install, construct, modify, service and decommission systems, working from verbal instructions and/or drawings.

you will learn how to read and understand technical drawings.

There is an opportunity for generous amount of overtime with an offered rate
of £11.91 per overtime hour

Other Information

The company has an International client base and therefore there will be regular travelling to different work site locations.

Please be mindful, due to the travelling requirements you may require a valid passport.

Expense's are paid for when travelling and you will not miss any college attendance.

College Attendance is twice a week for the first year then once a week for the second year.

You will be given 21 days off plus bank holidays.

There is an opportunity for generous amount of overtime with an offered rate of £11.91 per overtime hour.
