Brief Description

Do you have a passion for aerospace engineering? Collins Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard are looking for four apprentices to join their team. This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of the design process using various different materials, which are tested to ensure high quality planes.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will need to have GCSE grades 9-4 (A*- C) in English and maths or equivalent.

They are currently on the lookout for Mechanical Design Engineer Apprentices to join the team in Leighton Buzzard as part of the Cabin Products, Interior – A350 Galleys for Commercial Airlines.

This is what you will be doing in the role:

Conduct detailed Design Work, Assembly Layout, Systems Engineering, Configuration Control, creation of Drawings, technical support and other related responsibilities.

Formulate designs for component parts and assemblies for products.

Make layout assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanism, structures, and products to be used in engineering designs.

Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost, to assess feasibility for production and ensure designed products achieve quality standards and business objectives of the organisation.

Develop basic data, and make preliminary layouts, prepare sketches and complete detail and layout drawings, under direct supervision, to be checked for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specification, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.

Conduct analysis to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.

Support the Engineering Design team delivering any given projects on time, on budget and on quality.

39 working hours a week:
Monday to Thursday core hours: 09:00 – 16:30
Monday to Thursday Flexi Hours: 07:30 – 18:00

Friday core hours: 09:00 – 12:30
Friday Flexi Hours: 07:30 – 14:00
