To be considered for this role you will ideally need to have GCSE grades 9-3 (A*- D) in English and maths.

Vacancy Detail

Nobles Engineering in Earls Barton are a specialist quality sheet metal company, working with their customers in ferrous and non-ferrous materials from design to manufacture and fabrication.

They are now looking for an engineering apprentice to join this family firm.

You will work closely with experienced team members on a variety of projects, while studying towards a Level 2 Engineering qualification. This apprenticeship is a fantastic way to kick-start your engineering career.

So what will you be doing in the role?

1. Learning how to program engineering projects using Amada CAD/CAM software for programming laser machines and learn a range of engineering tasks, from programming through to welding. (Tig/Mig) and learning how to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.

2. Learning Engineering Principles:
You will gain exposure to key engineering principles, including relevant manufacturing processes. You will study and apply industry-specific standards, regulations, and best practices in your work. As well as this you will build knowledge in areas such as engineering materials, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), systems control, health and safety standards, and quality assurance procedures. And apply theoretical knowledge to practical work through real-world applications and problem-solving tasks, ensuring that work is carried out to the highest standards.

3. Machine and Equipment Operation:
You will learn how to safely operate and maintain a variety of engineering machinery. And develop an understanding of how each piece of equipment works, its purpose, and its maintenance needs. And follow clear instructions when operating machinery and ensure that all health and safety guidelines are always adhered to.

4. Technical Support and Problem-Solving:
You will assist in diagnosing issues with engineering systems and machinery, working under the guidance of experienced engineers. And support the implementation of corrective actions, whether it be repairs, adjustments, or modifications, and document all troubleshooting efforts.

5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. And participate in risk assessments and safety audits, ensuring that any hazards are identified and mitigated promptly. And use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure the work area is kept clean and free of hazards.

6. Continuous Professional Development:
Attend training sessions and complete coursework to meet the requirements of your Level 2 Engineering apprenticeship. And work with your mentor or floor manager to set personal development goals and receive feedback on performance.

College attendance will be one day a week from September 2025 at Tresham College in Corby.

Other Information

Safety footwear will need to be worn and also overalls, these will be supplied by the employer. No previous experience is required, but any exposure to engineering or technical fields would be beneficial. In addition, there will be a time keeping bonus of £20.00 per week on FULL completion of the week’s shifts including attendance at college.
