Vacancy Detail
Vortex Fabrications are based on the Eckland Lodge Business Park near Desborough.
Vortex Fabrications is a stainless steel and aluminium fabrication specialist. Their team produces high‑quality welded components and assemblies for clients who need accuracy, consistency and a clean, professional finish. They support sectors including motorsport, aerospace, automation and industrial manufacturing, delivering reliable fabrication and TIG welding services from prototypes through to repeat production.
They are now looking for an apprentice to join them.
In this apprenticeship you will be working towards a Level 3 Engineering Fitter qualification.
You will be:
Measuring, marking out, drilling, tapping and general metal processing.
Folding, bending and forming sheet metal.
Fabricating and welding mild steel frames, box section structures and sheet
metal components.
Stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal fabrication.
TIG and MIG welding.
Pipework fabrication, fitting and welding.
Reading and working from engineering drawings.
Assembling fabricated components and mechanical parts.
Fitting items such as pumps, motors, valves, brackets and pipework onto frames and fabricated assemblies.
Using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery.
Checking dimensions, alignment and the general quality of completed work.
Assisting with full turnkey projects such as industrial and aerospace test rigs.
The apprentice would gain experience working with mild steel, stainless steel and
aluminium across a variety of one-off and small batch projects.
The role is not limited to one specific area and would cover a mixture of engineering fitting, mechanical assembly, welding, sheet metal work and general fabrication.
Due to the site work in this role you will need to be able to drive.
