Brief Description

Qualifications Required
To be considered for this role you will ideally need to have GCSE grades 9 - 4 (A*- C) in English and maths.

As a Gauge Assembler Apprentice, you will gain practical experience in the manufacture and assembly of high-precision metrology products while working alongside skilled engineers in a supportive environment. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to produce high-quality assemblies that meet exacting engineering standards.
A key part of the role is to work safely at all times by understanding and following GMSL's health and safety procedures and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for every task. You will learn to carry out all aspects of assembly manufacture, ensuring products are completed to the required quality standards, perform as intended and are delivered within agreed timescales.
You will be trained to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings and technical documentation, enabling you to assemble components accurately and work to fine engineering tolerances. The role will also involve marking out holes and cut-outs, carrying out drilling, reaming, tapping, counterboring and countersinking operations to GMSL standards, and using a range of precision tools and equipment.
As your skills develop, you will inspect completed assemblies and record the results by producing calibration certificates and inspection reports in line with GMSL and customer specifications. You will also perform functional testing to verify that assembled products meet the required performance and quality standards. Any defects, non-conformances or opportunities for improvement will be documented in accordance with company procedures.
You will be expected to complete work efficiently and cost-effectively while maintaining the high standards of workmanship associated with Gleason Metrology Systems Ltd. As part of your development, you will also gain experience supporting the machine shop, where you will be introduced to machining processes including milling, turning and surface grinding, providing a broad understanding of precision engineering and manufacturing techniques.
