Qualifications Required
The applicant should be educated to a minimum of GCSE level with 5 GCSEs achieved / predicted at A-C grade in maths, English and science (or equivalent). You should have an enthusiastic and genuine interest in engineering and be willing to study an Advanced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Apprenticeship giving an NVQ and BTEC qualification upon completion. The applicant should also be flexible and adaptable to be able to work within any production unit in the Plant.

• Good practical, hands-on skills and an interest in “how things work”

Skills Required
• Basic concept of the need for safe working practices
• Ability to think logically and demonstrate effective problem solving skills
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• PC Literate (CAD knowledge is desirable)
Training to be Provided
Year 1 “off the job” training at Bedford college mainly (paid employment)
Years 2, 3 and 4 – “On the job” training with college attendance 1 day per week.
Level 3 NVQ in one of a number of forms of Engineering.
Level 3 Diploma in one of a number of forms of Engineering
Or
HNC in one of a number of forms of Engineering
Future Prospects
A rewarding career within maintenance engineering. You will be developed and mentored by experienced maintenance personnel and will undertake a variety of different training courses.

General Motors UK, in collaboration with Bedford College, is looking to recruit Apprentices in:
Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineering (Mechatronics) – based at the Vauxhall Manufacturing plant , Kimpton Road, Luton (8 positions available) to commence in early September 2016. The roles offer rewarding careers and successful applicants will be developed and mentored by experienced maintenance and motor vehicle personnel and will undertake a variety of training courses. There is also a requirement to attend and study at Bedford College (Cauldwell Street and Kempston campuses).
Opportunities for multi-skilled maintenance apprentices are available throughout the production and support units within the Vauxhall Manufacturing Plant. The role will provide experience in the Press shop, Body shop, Paint shop, General Assembly and Facilities & Central Maintenance functions. Apprentices learn all the different methods of equipment maintenance that are vital to production.
