Brief Description

Working as part of the School ICT Support Team, the Apprentice will provide support to staff, students and parents as necessary. The role will cover a wide variety of tasks whilst developing the skills needed to achieve a qualification.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role, you will need GCSE 9- 4 (A*- C) or equivalent in maths and English, or a willingness to work towards literacy and numeracy functional skills qualifications

Skills Required

Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows 10 would be beneficial

Training to be Provided

You will gain the following qualifications:
- Infrastructure Technician – BCS – Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
- Cisco IT Essentials (Level 3) OR Cisco CCNA 1 (Level 3)
- Cisco: Introduction to the Internet of Everything
- Cisco: Cyber Security Essentials
- Cisco: Be Your Own Boss

You will also study a range of topics including: Cisco IT Essentials OR Cisco CCNA 1 CompTIA A+

Vacancy Detail

Working as part of the School ICT Support Team, the Apprentice will provide support to staff, students and parents as necessary. The role will cover a wide variety of tasks whilst developing the skills needed to achieve a qualification.

The role is based in the IT Department and will cover a wide variety of tasks including:

 First line user support and training for workstations, laptops, tablets and mobile devices;
 To assist with the checking and maintenance of the school’s ICT resource for safe,
effective use by students and staff;
 To support staff and student use of ICT within the classroom, and remotely when
required;
 To assist with the maintenance of user accounts in a Microsoft Active Directory
environment;
 Maintenance of desktop PCs and laptops, including building, configuring, updating and
deploying hardware to users;
 Assist with the maintenance and support of centralised printing system;
 To work the ICT team to ensure that IT and acceptable use policies are adhered to;
 Liaising with suppliers and external providers, as directed by the ICT Network Manager
or a member of the Senior Leadership Team;
 Troubleshooting PC, wired and wireless LAN problems;
 Troubleshooting and configuration of AV equipment including projectors and speakers;
 To work with the team to deploy new software applications and updates to existing
software packages;
 To assist with the accurate documentation of systems and assets;
 To assist the ICT helpdesk, escalating support calls to the ICT Network Manager /
Assistant ICT Network Manager in a timely fashion to ensure effective and efficient
service desk call resolution;

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Following direction from the ICT staff:
 Follow school ICT system maintenance procedures;
 Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures;
 Assist with support for the school telephone system;
 Enrol students and staff on the school Biometric system in addition to providing support for the system;
 Provide back up support for the school website, communication applications and social media pages.
