Brief Description
As a CNC operator the applicant will produce machined components using CNC milling machines, lathes and drills which meet the customers’ requirements in terms of quality, cost and time.
Qualifications Required
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, including Grades 9 - 4 (A* to C) including maths, English and science
Engineering based subject is desirable but not essential.
Personal Qualities
The applicant would need to be able to work as part of a team, be self-motivated, helpful and enthusiastic have the desire and willingness to learn.
Skills Required
Eye for detail, good working ethic & strong interest in engineering.
Training to be Provided
The apprentice will be provided with all the necessary training required to fulfil the role. Part of this will be on the job and part will be via a training centre.

Vacancy Detail
As a CNC operator Apprentice at Bocol Services you will report directly to the Senior Machinist. Under supervision throughout the training period you will learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Operate CNC milling machines and lathe
• Use Drill Banks/Tapping Heads
• Carry out inspection of machined parts using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), gauges and other inspection aids
• Checking that work meets quality and technical standards
• Perform routine maintenance.
• Help to maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment
• Replenish Coolant/Lubricating Fluids
• Remove sharp edges from components (deburring)
• File away set-up sheets, drawings and perform a backup of CNC programs
The above is not an exhaustive list.
Other Information
There will be a mix of both hands on and computer based work required. The computer based work will take place once the basics of machining have been learnt. The environment is within a factory and machining can generate noise.
£200 depending on age, qualifications and experience.
