Brief Description

As a team member your role is to provide effective support for teaching staff, colleagues and pupils in a wide range of activities during the school day.

Qualifications Required

You will need English & maths GCSE's A*-C / 4 - 9 or equivalent

Personal Qualities

Hard working, ability to work as part of a team, use own initiative and provide a positive role model to pupils.

Skills Required

A friendly, positive, calm, consistent and approachable nature.
Ability to assist pupils with physical activities including PE & swimming.
The desire to learn and undertake additional training.
Can do attitude.
Previous experience of working with children with special needs would be an advantage.

Training to be Provided

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Schools as organisations including types of schools, policies and procedures and the wider environment in which they operate
Team working
Preparing for and supervising learning activities and supporting learners to complete work set by the teacher
Personal development and reflective practice.
You will gain the following qualifications:

Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

Vacancy Detail

As a team member your role is to provide effective support for teaching staff, colleagues and pupils in a wide range of activities during the school day.

As a team member your role is to support teaching staff, colleagues and pupils in the wide range of activities during the school day, which could include swimming & PE.

The apprentice will be working with individual pupils as well as groups of pupils with a varied range of special needs including all levels of learning difficulties, social, emotional, communication & sensory needs. You will need to Implement behaviour support plans and communication programmes with pupils, as directed by a senior member of staff. This role will also include:

• Assisting with classroom and general school display work.
• Supervising pupils at playtime/ break times as well as at pickup/transport times.
• Contributing towards the physical education of pupils including swimming and PE.
• Assisting in aspects of recording pupil's work as directed and in line with school policy.
• Assisting with the creation of educational resources.
• Accompany pupils on educational visits and journeys.
• Attending regular after school staff meetings, training and inductions.
• Supporting the personal and social aspects of teaching, for example working with pupils on eating programmes and toilet training.

Other Information

**THERE ARE 7 POSITIONS OVER 3 SCHOOL SITES- Greys Education, Grange Academy and St Johns**

A full package of induction training will be in place, together with additional training in specialist areas such as behaviour support, communication and interaction, awareness of medical issues etc. All training days will be attended by apprentices.
This position is term time only. Hours vary slightly depending on which school the apprentice is allocated to. Example 32.5 hrs pw 8.45am - 4pm, 31.25 hrs pw 8.40am – 3.25pm, Mon - Fri (1 day a week at College)
