At Stansted Aerospace Ltd based in Bishops Stortford are a leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility dedicated to keeping aircraft flying safely and efficiently. We pride ourselves on our high standards, technical expertise, and commitment to developing the next generation of aviation professionals.

Stansted Aerospace Ltd are looking for a motivated and mechanically inclined Structures Apprentice to join their team. In this role, you will work alongside our highly skilled, certified Structures Mechanics to learn the trade of aircraft structural repair and fabrication. This is a hands-on learning position where you will develop the skills necessary to inspect, assess, and repair aircraft sheet metal and composite structures in accordance with aviation regulations.

Key responsibilities under supervision of certified technicians will be;
Structural Repairs: Performing routine and complex repairs on aircraft airframes, including sheet metal and composite components.
Fabrication & Modification: Shaping, cutting, bending, and riveting sheet metal to fabricate replacement parts.
Manual Navigation: Reading and interpreting structural repair manuals (SRMs) & engineering drawings
Tool Operation: Safely operating specialised pneumatic and hand tools used in structural maintenance (drills, rivet guns, bucking bars, shears, and brakes).
Inspection & Preparation: Removing corrosion, applying sealants, and preparing surfaces for structural repair.
Safety & Compliance: Adhering to all company safety policies, tool control procedures, and strict aviation authority regulations (e.g. EASA, CAA).
Documentation: Accurately logging work performed and parts used under the guidance of a certifying mechanic.

Please note, from the 22nd September 2026 to March 2027, you will be based full time as a student at Shuttleworth College in Bedfordshire. From March 2027 until completion of the apprenticeship in June 2029, you will be working on site in Bishops Stortford with one day per week day release to Shuttleworth College.
