Brief Description

Are you looking for an apprenticeship as a Bench Joiner and installer? Beechwood Studios in Luton are looking for an apprentice to join them. You will learn all about the manufacture/production of furniture and project elements. Preparing finished products for onward shipment and installation.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will ideally need to have GCSE grades 9-3 (A*- D) in English and maths

Vacancy Detail

Beechwood Studios has had forefront success in the travel retail and brand activation industry since its conception in 1994, and is considered a powerhouse in the travel retail promotional display sector by many retailers and brands.

Beechwood Studios in Luton are currently looking to expand their friendly team to include a full-time apprentice Bench Joiner.

The candidate will work alongside their experienced manufacturing team, to produce all promotion unitary, furniture and elements to the highest standard, ready to be further installed into Duty Free shops in all UK airports on their temporary promotion spaces.

You will also be required to aid with the monthly changeover procedure and operations, which can entail a late working schedule or installation/removal of projects and promotions in Airside Stores across the UK.

In the first year of your apprenticeship you may sometimes be required to work very late, but not overnight to assist our team with shop fits.

In the second year of your apprenticeship you may be required to work late for the shop fit schedules (overnight). Any time over your normal weekly hours will be paid at an enhanced overtime rate and you will be allocated the appropriate rest hours following any late night install. Overnight stops away from home are not normally necessary.

Key/Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Manufacture/Production of POS Unitary (items made for use instore), Furniture and Project Elements.

Preparing finished Products for onward shipment and installation.

Assisting with installations.

You will receive training to follow design briefs accurately and read technical drawings correctly and learn how to work to strict production deadlines.

Training will be provided to complete quality management and assurance and to work with and ensure Health and Safety Guidelines are met.

College attendance will be once a week at the Bedford campus.

Salary to increase after the first year.

Other Information

All our work is installed Airside into the UK airports. To be able to apply and hold an airside pass there are strict H&S rules that must be followed. The right person will have a mature outlook and be able to behave in a responsible manner in such environments. It is necessary they have a clean criminal record. It will be required that they, when trained, assist with the installations, normally once or twice a month, which will require late night, out of hours working. It is also expected that they contribute to overtime during busy periods. Overtime is paid on an enhanced rate. Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Tresham College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process.
