Brief Description

Are you passionate about the natural environment and are eager to kickstart your career in administration? Cranfield University are looking for an eager Apprentice to join The British Society of Soil Science membership organization, to complete Administrative Duties and help support day to day operations.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will need to have GCSE grades 9-3 (A*- D) in English and Math's or equivalent.

The British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) is an established international membership organization committed to the study of soil in its widest aspects. The Society brings together those working within academia, practitioners implementing soil science in industry and all those working with, or with an interest in soils. They promote research and education, both academically and in practice, and build collaborative partnerships to help safeguard our soil for the future.

They are looking for a motivated and pro-active individual to join them as an apprentice. You will join the operations team as they continue to lead the way in soil science at the forefront of the sector.

As an apprentice, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day operations. From managing administrative tasks to providing high class customer service to members, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What will you be learning?

You will be supported to develop skills in making effective decisions through exercising proactivity and good judgement and seeking advice from more experience team members.

You will learn how to produce accurate records and documents (including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals), draft correspondence, maintain records and files and handle confidential information in compliance with BSSS procedures.

You will also learn how to develop excellent communication skills through appropriate digital and face to face channels and act as a role model and key source of information for the organization.

You will learn how to manage resources and organize meetings and events including taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and managing priorities to successfully meet deadlines.

You will also learn to apply project management principles to plan and manage your work and associated projects.

You will maintain general good housekeeping of the workplace.

Participate in team meetings, 121’s and other appropriate events.

Other Information

College attendance will be once per month for nine months based at Bedford College.
