Brief Description

Have you recently finished your Level 3 Engineering and are looking for a Level 4 apprenticeship? Are you looking to further your career with a highly prestigious automotive company? Are you ready for a new challenge? Vauxhall in Luton are looking for 3 Process and Quality Engineer Apprentices to start within their company in September 2023.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will need to have GCSE grades 9-4 (A*- C) or equivalent, in English and maths.

To access a Level 4 apprenticeship you need to have one of the below;

• Completed an advanced engineering apprenticeship.
• Hold a level 3 NVQ/SVQ qualification (engineering)
• Have a BTEC National qualification within engineering
• 2 passes at A-Level maths and Physics

The employer would like someone who is an strong communicator and is able to effectively and efficiently escalate where necessary. With this, the employer would also like someone who has strong attention to detail and is able to identify concerns and areas for improvement.

Skills Required

The employer is looking for someone who has a strong technical ability and strong data analysis skills. They are also looking for someone who has good project planning and project management skills.

Training to be Provided

You will gain the following qualifications:
- Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard
- Higher National Certificate in Engineering
- Level 2 Functional skills in English and maths (if required)

You will also study a range of topics including: engineering mathematics, electro- mechanical fundamental science, PLC and automation, pneumatic and hydraulic applications, electronic and electrical principles, mechanical principles and many more

Successful completion of the Apprenticeship could lead to full time employment at Vauxhall Motors as a qualified Process and Quality Engineer.

This role is based at the Vauxhall Motors Manufacturing Plant in Luton, UK. There are nearly 1,500 employees based at the site building light commercial vehicles under the Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat, Opel and Vauxhall badges. It is a fast paced, high volume site working across 3 shifts and producing 6,000 vans a week for the end customer.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will be working within the Process, Quality and Engineering department. This department is responsible for the following:

• Controlling the process in unit by applying different checks which can be done online or in the lab to make sure the quality of the final product meets the expectation
• Continuous improvement activities in relation to productivity and quality
• Project Management in relation to Engineering changes, capacity uplift and automation.

You will be integrated into the team where you will have the opportunity to maximise your capabilities in following the organisations processes and systems in achieving the performance KPI’s and successful project implementation.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• SPC Monitoring and control (SPC - Statistical Process Control is method of measuring and controlling quality by monitoring the manufacturing process)
• Quality improvement
• Robot optimisation 3D onsite (CAD - Computer Aided Design)
• Lab testing on materials and panels.
• Implementing projects from concept to completion
• Health & Safety management (Including COSHH - Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
