Vacancy Detail
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides emergency response, prevention and protection services across the county in support of our neighbouring communities. Bedfordshire covers an area of approximately 123,500 hectares and has a growing population currently estimated to be approaching 620,000. The area consists principally of rural landscape and incorporates a number of market towns. There are five wholetime stations, crewed 24 hours a day, at Luton, Stopsley, Dunstable, Bedford and Kempston. The fire stations at Bedford and Kempston are also supported by Retained Duty System (RDS) personnel.
The main purpose of the role is to assist the transport section in providing administrative support, by supporting the other team members to ensure operational vehicles and equipment are rectified quickly and efficiently and are available for operational use with minimum disruption in line with Service Procedures. Part of the role will include updating computerised systems, obtaining quotations and costings for maintaining vehicles, check that stock levels are maintained to ensure the speedy repair of vehicles and operational equipment and ensuring that all data bases and spreadsheets are kept up to date. You will also assist in the development and maintenance of procedure manuals relating to the Transport section are kept up to date, attend meetings, seminars and courses and other training requirements, assist with the transport orders ensuring they are processed in a timely manner and responding to enquiries and requests.
