Qualifications Required
A Levels or equivalent (E)

Vacancy Detail
We are looking for one apprentice Trainee Clerk of Works to join Grand Union Housing Group at our Cranfield office. This is a fantastic career opportunity to progress with the organisation.
You will work closely with the Senior Clerk of Works in the Development Team whilst attending college one day per week.
1. Main Responsibilities
a) Assist in carrying out inspections of construction works to ensure that work is to the required quality, specification and meets contract and legislative requirements.
b) Assist in liaising with the contractor and ensure accurate reporting of site progress to include site labour, availability of materials and any loss of time.
c) Liaise with the Development Project Manager and other members of the project team to assist the smooth running of projects.
d) Liaise with the Clerk of Works team, providing feedback on progress, performance, and any site related issues.
e) Attend site meetings and any other project meetings as deemed necessary.
f) Attend snagging inspections and handover of new properties including taking accurate utility readings.
g) Attend and liaise with the Employers Agent for the DLP inspections and ensure all works signed off.
h) Assist in design consultation, specification and reviews and the exploration of new products, methods and practices.
i) Attend adhoc training and CPD events in order to remain fully informed of latest practices and legislation.
j) Assist in the assessment of contractors and consultants for The Group's approved list where it applies to Development projects.
2. Customer Service

3. Health & Safety
Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 1974 (a-b) it shall be the duty of every employee while at work

4. General
a) Use reporting systems as required.
b) Operate within the Group’s policies and procedures.
c) Ensure the maximum use of information technology systems and take the opportunity to simplify wherever possible.
d) Willingness to study for a Professional Qualification in order to enable promotion to Clerk Of Works role when a vacancy is available, and successful completion of training programme.
e) Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.
