Brief Description

This position will be working within Bedfordshire! You will assist all ward-based staff to encourage service users to meet and spend time with other people for therapeutic purposes, to reduce feelings of isolation and to aid the recovery process.

Qualifications Required

GCSE standard in English and Maths (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent

Personal Qualities

• Ability to prioritise work.
• Ability to work without the need for direct supervision
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience of working with people

Skills Required

• Ability to form effective working relationships with Service Users and colleagues

• Ability to undertake physical tasks involved patient care

• Ability to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills

Training to be Provided

CG LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (ADULTS) FOR ENGLAND (QCF)
CG LEVEL 2 AWARD IN EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS IN HEALTH
CG LEVEL 2 FUNCTIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATION IN ENGLISH
CG LEVEL 1 AWARD IN FUNCTIONAL SKILLS MATHEMATICS (QCF)
CG LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN PREPARING TO WORK IN ADULT SOCIAL CARE (QCF)

Future Prospects

Working with us will be a really good introduction to the NHS and the start of your career. We are offering 12 to 18 month contracts depending on the Apprenticeship you take up and there will be opportunities to apply for jobs when you complete your training. Alternatively, you may want to consider a further Apprenticeship at a higher level, and we can help with that too.

Vacancy Detail

To assist all ward-based staff to encourage service users to meet and spend time with other people for therapeutic purposes, to reduce feelings of isolation and to aid the recovery process.

To support the Social Therapists/Associate Nurse with every day care of service users and to observe the assessment and care plan process; observe CPA’s ward reviews, Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers Hearings .

To provide support with individual and group activities with the service users on the ward to aid in their recovery and awareness.

• Use a range of communication skills to support ward staff to ensure service users are engaged in a meaningful way, and receive treatment required for their well-being.

• Provide effective means of communication with staff and service users in line with the ward philosophy of care and service.

• To build and maintain therapeutic relationships, which result in positive outcome for patients and aids recovery.

To communicate with clients and the team with optimism and enthusiasm whilst being sensitive to the complex and diverse needs of the clients.

• To work in accordance with the Trust Information Sharing Policy and Data Protection Acts, ensuring that all written and electronically stored information is accessible only to authorised personnel.
• Deal with distressing and challenging situations in a sensitive and non-threatening way to reduce anxieties and promote effective resolutions. Seek support from ward staff immediately
• Flexible approach, able to recognise signs of stress in self and others and take the appropriate action to seek support and guidance.
• Acknowledge own strengths and limitation and discuss/identify training and development needs in management supervision.
• Remain optimistic in therapeutic engagement with patients
• To work within the patient to patient anti bullying policy and assist with providing support to bullies, victims and other members of the nursing team.

Other Information

Apprentices may be allocated to work night shifts after they have been post for 3-months.
