Brief Description
We have an excellent opportunity for 9 bright and focused individuals to become multi-skilled Mechatronics Maintenance Engineering apprentices. Positions are available throughout the production and support units within the Vauxhall Manufacturing Plant.
Qualifications Required
The applicant should be educated to a minimum of GCSE level with 5 GCSEs achieved / predicted at A-C or 4 - 9 grade in maths, English and science (or equivalent).
You should have an enthusiastic and genuine interest in engineering and be willing to study an Advanced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Apprenticeship giving an NVQ and EAL qualification upon completion. The applicant should also be flexible and adaptable to be able to work within any production unit in the Plant.

Strong problem solving skills is essential for you to be successful, as well as the ability to work independently and also as a part of a high performing team.
Training to be Provided
Year 1 “off the job” training at Bedford college mainly (paid employment)
Years 2, 3 and 4 – “On the job” training with college attendance 1 day per week.
Level 3 NVQ in one of a number of forms of Engineering.
Level 3 Diploma in one of a number of forms of Engineering
Or
HNC in one of a number of forms of Engineering

Vauxhall Apprenticeship Programme is an excellent opportunity for you to learn, earn and work towards an advanced technical qualification, all at the same time.
Our Mechatronics Advanced programme will take 4 years to complete depending on current qualifications. At the end of your 4 year apprenticeship, given that you pass your assessments and expectations set, you will be a qualified Mechatronics Engineering Technician and will have achieved the following qualifications:
1. EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competency).
2. EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
3. EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (Development Competency)
Whilst studying, you will work within our Manufacturing group where you will be responsible for ensuring that the equipment is maintained to a standard necessary for the production of high valued manufactured products.
Typically the work covers a broad range of activities including installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team if they meet the initial criteria as part of the recruitment process.
The vacancy will be working in the manufacturing plant and will involve shift work.
