About Us

What is the Job Shop ?

Here at Bedford College we understand how competitive the job market has become and aim to support you to reach your career goals.
We will help you to demonstrate the skills that employers are looking for, through both voluntary and paid work.

The Job Shop is a central point to visit and get advice on employment opportunities whether they are part-time alongside your course, or full-time when you are ready to move on from College.

How can we help ?

We will ask you which careers you are interested in and contact local employers to find suitable opportunities.

Come in and view our latest vacancies via our noticeboards. We'll get you registered on our online job search system and help you find a role that's right for you, whether that's to fit around your studies or when you complete your course.

Once you're registered you'll receive regular vacancy bulletins from the sectors of your choice. When you’re ready to make an application we can help you at any stage of the process including the interview.

Come and see us if you need assistance with any of the following:

  • CVs & application forms
  • Letters
  • Local labour market information
  • Interviews
  • Apprenticeships
  • Voluntary work
  • Job searching
  • Essential employment skills

The Job Shop works closely with personal tutors to ensure that all students who wish to progress into employment are registered on the system and receive regular updates on opportunities as well as ongoing support with their plans.

Job Shop advisers will be taking part in tutorials throughout the year across all sites.

The Job Shop continues to work with you up to two years after leaving College.

The Job Shop is located on the mezzanine floor of the Tower Block at the Cauldwell Street campus. We also make regular visits to our other campuses – details are posted on the notice boards there.

The Job Shop is open:
Monday to Friday

Quick enquiries can be dealt with on the spot. If you require more in depth guidance we will make an appointment with one of our advisers so that you can discuss your needs in more detail.

You can drop into the Job Shop any time during opening hours. Alternatively you can call us on 01234 291805 or email:
