Brief Description
Goldington Academy are looking for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to process and record financial transactions in accordance with the academy’s financial procedures.
Qualifications Required
To be considered for this role you will ideally need GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 9-4 (A*-C) including maths and English AND an AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.

Training to be Provided
You will gain the following qualifications:

- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
You will also study a range of topics, including: Advanced bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting Costing, Indirect Tax, Ethics for Accountants, Spreadsheets for Accounting and Advanced synoptic assessment.

Vacancy Detail
Goldington Academy are looking for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to process and record financial transactions in accordance with the academy’s financial procedures.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. To maintain accurate and complete records of all income and expenditure within the school accounting system, working at all times in accordance with the school's agreed financial procedures.
2. To assist in the preparation of the annual budget, carrying out month and year end procedures.
3. To produce data and reports on financial matters as required by budget holders/ the School Business Manager/ Principal.
4. To receive and record cash and cheques received from pupils, staff, and external customers.
5. To carry out reconciliation of bank statements.
6. To process orders by raising purchase orders and requisitions, dealing with goods received and chasing up outstanding orders as necessary.
7. To administer the purchase of goods and equipment, liaising with work colleagues and suppliers in all purchase related matters, e.g. identifying suppliers from whom to source goods, co-ordinating delivery dates, and organising the return of goods.
8. To deal with payment of invoices, recording details and preparing for authorisation.
9. To ensure the academy’s financial procedures are adhered to and that budgets are not overspent.
10. To raise invoice and credit notes as directed by the School Business Manager and maintain customer files.
11. To record and reconcile credit card transactions and statements.
12. To assist with the production of all financial returns in a timely and accurate manner.
13. To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
14. To ensure the smooth running of the financial team by adhering to agreed practices.
15. To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.
16. To attend staff training (or to undertake other appropriate duties), on the 5 staff training days each year.
17. To take part in any arrangements for performance management that the school may make.
18. To carry out risk assessments, where required, in line with these duties.
19. To work safely and bring to the line manager’s attention any faults, accidents, incidents or near misses and any other health and safety concerns in order that the academy remains a healthy and safe environment for all stakeholders.
20. To practice and promote fair and equal treatment of all staff, parents and pupils throughout the course of performing all duties contained within this job description.
