Brief Description

As a Brake Press Operator Apprentice you will be part of an exciting fabrication team manufacturing precision components. Working with a Senior Press Brake Operator with production bending work. You will also achieve your engineering qualification. Is this the sort of career you are looking for?

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D) ideally including English and maths and science or equivalent

An interest in engineering
Motivated and willing to learn
Must be able to work effectively with tasks you are given
Good time keeping

Skills Required

Basic understanding of engineering or working with materials is an advantage
A can do and will do attitude

Training to be Provided

Engineering Operative – Level 2
EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations
EAL Level 2 in Engineering Operations

Future Prospects

Upon completion of your apprenticeship you will have full time employment within the fabrication team. This will be working with your own brake press machine and, depending on the growth of the company, could potentially be working with a team of press brakes.

Vacancy Detail

A typical day will be working with a Senior Press Brake Operator, with 30+ years experience, doing production bending work. You will be identifying what stock is low, allocating stock, completing the works then completing the works order to show this. This company have some of the most experienced engineers in the country who want to pass on their knowledge and expertise to an apprentice. Could this be you? To start with you will be working on smaller basic jobs that require very little set up and maybe one/two bends, then you will progress with experience, once you understand the elements of engineering.

You will also be:

- Identifying stock requirements from the production storage racking then, producing the stock to replenish
- Setting up the machines as per the requirements of each job, this will involve changing the tooling to suit each job
- Working from technical drawings to complete customer specific jobs, working with various different materials
- Inspecting completed items to quality check the bends to technical drawings
- Maintenance of tools and equipment
- Setting up press brake with correct tooling and program
- Checking heights of tooling and adjust back stops
- Safely working with numerous materials and grades
- Reading, understanding and working to technical drawings
- Prioritising workload from batch production items and bespoke customer work
