Brief Description

Playscape are based in Oakam and are looking for a carpentry apprentice. The day to day job role is to assist their current carpenter, mainly in a workshop environment, but occasionally on site at a School, Nursery or Council playground in the construction of timber based play equipment. Are you interested?

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role you will ideally need GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D) in English and maths (or equivalent)

Vacancy Detail

Playscape Playgrounds manufacture timber play equipment. They are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable team player to learn from an experienced carpenter who was once himself an apprentice. Mainly using timber but, they also use stainless steels, rubber, aluminum and polypropylene steel cored rope. This is a real opportunity to learn a niche trade and become a real specialist. Occasionally helping to install the product that you have built as well.

No two days are the same. Playscape might be building play towers, underground tunnels or making ropes for bridges one day and then helping the installation team erect and install the items they have built.

In this role you will:

- Work with various sizes of timber and also sheet materials, gaining an understanding of how to measure these materials accurately and cut them using the right
tools for the job

- Learn how to finish and cut end of timber so that it looks good and is suitable for outside use

- Use various power tools, hand tools and learn to read measurements, plans and drawings

- Adhere to Health and Safety principles

- Be required to listen and understand instructions and maintain a clean and safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
