Brief Description : An exciting new position has come up as a Grounds Maintenance Apprentice working for local councils. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team, learning skills in hedge/shrub cutting, grass cutting and ground works in local areas such as parks.


Qualifications Required : The ideal candidate will have GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D) or equivalent including English and maths.
Vacancy Detail : MJ Granger are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Apprentice. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team, learning skills in hedge/shrub cutting, grass cutting and ground works for local councils.

The apprentice will be working with an experienced grounds maintenance supervisor, helping to look after a selection of customers' sites which have to be maintained throughout the year.

Main roles and responsibilities:
-Grass cutting
-Litter picking
-Hedge cutting
-Planting of shrubs, plants and bushes
-Tree planting

Working Week : Mon- Fri 7:30am- 4:45pm
Salary : £ 200.00 (Weekly)

Polite and professional to customers whilst working on sites at all times.
Skills Required : Must like working outside in all weathers.
Must have a hands on approach to work and to be able to work within a group.
Future Prospects : Potential offer of a full time position as a Grounds Maintenance Operative upon completion of the apprenticeship.
Training to be Provided : Level 2 Apprenticeship in either Horticulture or Landscape Operative. Plus: Emegency First Aid at Work, Level 2 Safe use of handling and application of pesticides, Functional Skills in English & maths (if required). You will also study a range of topics to include: Health and Safety, Business Skills, Machinery, Plant and Soil Science, Plant health

For those that are currently not in full time education, there is an opportunity to start the role earlier. Please note that the college attendance will commence in September 2021.

You will attend college once a week at Shuttleworth College (postcode SG18 9DX). There is a bus service available to Shuttleworth.
