Brief Description

As a memorial officer apprentice you will be responsible for providing a high quality, caring and efficient service to both the bereaved and other service users. You will liaise with families to review and select memorial options.

Qualifications Required

You will need four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, or equivalent including English and maths.

Personal Qualities

Must demonstrate a sensitive, caring and sympathetic attitude to the provision of the Bereavement Service.
The candidate must demonstrate an awareness of the confidential and sensitive nature of the work.
Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in their approach to work, i.e.: be prepared to work across the areas of the Bereavement Service as dictated by the demands of the service.

Skills Required

Must demonstrate an ability to communicate well, be self-motivated, organised and enthusiastic.
Experience in sales and/or marketing would be an advantage.
Demonstrate good administrative, IT, oral and written communication skills with a sound understanding of being customer focussed.
Demonstrate a high degree of numeracy and must be able to organise and prioritise their own workload effectively.
Must demonstrate the ability to speak fluent English at a level appropriate to be able to carry out the duties of the post.

Training to be Provided

You will gain the following qualifications:
- Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Level 2 Fuctional Skills in maths and English (if required).

You will also study a range of topics, including: IT, Record and document production, Decision making, Planning and organisation, Project management, Policies, Relevant regulations, Stakeholders, Processes and external environment factors.

This is a new post within the service and the successful apprentice will have the opportunity to to gain valuable experience in this important function.

Vacancy Detail

As a memorial officer apprentice you will be responsible for providing a high quality, caring and efficient service to both the bereaved and other service users. You will liaise with families to review and select memorial options. Design marketing material promoting the range of memorial options available.

Provide a high standard of customer service to all service users at all times and ensure that all legal requirements are adhered to.

To ensure accurate details are recorded so that the Council meets all of the applicable statutory requirements for this service.

To promote the Council’s memorial options to bereaved families and maximise income opportunities.

Ensure the efficient operation of the cemetery and crematorium facilities.

Ensure the team complies with Council financial requirements

Provide resilience for emergency situations.

To ensure Health & Safety requirements are met and implemented at all times.

Undertake any/all other duties commensurate with the grading of the post to meet service needs and requirements

Other Information

Must be sensitive and confident talking to customers that have recently suffered a bereavement.
