Brief Description

Ivel Valley are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic teaching assistant apprentice. They are are looking to employ someone with the right skills and attitude to work effectively with their pupils, all of whom have special educational needs.

Qualifications Required

You will need English & maths GCSE's A*-C / 4 - 9 or equivalent

Personal Qualities

· Positive attitude to children and young people with special educational needs
· Willingness to be flexible
· Willingness to undertake continual professional development (training)
· Commitment to equality and inclusion
· Able to undertake all physical aspects of the role
· Willingness to acquire First Aid Qualification
· A keen interest in sports

Skills Required

· Sports Leadership experience in school or within a community club (not essential)
· Understanding educational needs of children and young people
· Ability to contribute to the planning and development of educational activities
· Ability to work collaboratively with others
· Ability to work on own initiative when applicable
· Ability to use IT in a classroom setting

Training to be Provided

You will gain the following qualifications:
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant
• Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)

Vacancy Detail

Ivel Valley are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic teaching assistant apprentice. They are are looking to employ someone with the right skills and attitude to work effectively with their pupils, all of whom have special educational needs.

The successful candidate will be working closely with guidance and instructions from teaching staff, the apprentice will assist with educational activities and attend to the educational, personal and social needs of pupils in order to support their learning and development and to ensure their safety within the school. The apprentice is expected to assist in the delivery of PE lessons and also work in a class based role.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

• To assist with preparation for school visits and sports activities/competitions. The supervision of pupils on such visits, in liaison with the Educational Visits Coordinator or PE leader.
• To efficiently prepare, maintain and use classroom teaching materials and equipment, including organising the use and preparation of sports equipment, audio/visual and ICT equipment
• Work alongside teachers and coaches to deliver engaging and motivating PE lessons
• To attend staff meetings, participate in performance management arrangements and undertake training and development activities.
