Brief Description

To provide first line IT support to the staff and students of Biddenham International School and Sports College.

Qualifications Required

Five GCSEs 9-4 or A-C in English, maths, science, technology plus one other subject or
a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeships or other relevant qualifications and experience or an aptitude knowledge test with a focus on IT Skills

Personal Qualities

Good inter-personal, organisation and time management skills
A keen interest in computing

Skills Required

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and students
Ability to work without supervision and able to prioritise work
A flexible and versatile approach to working arrangements
Ability to lift/move computer equipment
Ability to use a ladder or equipment to reach awkward areas for the installation and maintenance of equipment.

Training to be Provided

Infrastructure Technician – BCS – Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard. You will also study a range of topics including: Cabling and connectivity, Maintenance processes, Computer architecture, Numerical skills, Maintaining a secure network, Operating systems, Deploying and securely integrating mobile devices, Cloud and cloud services, Disaster recovery, Coding and logic, Business processes, Business IT skills, Communication, IT security, Remote infrastructure, Data, Problem solving, Workflow management, Health and safety, Performance, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive)

Vacancy Detail

To provide first line IT support to the staff and students of Biddenham International School and Sports College.

 Support the use of IT dealing with hardware and software support calls and advising staff on matters such as the repair and diagnosis of Chromebooks/Desktops, support with G-Suite (Google Docs) and Microsoft applications

 Managing Tickets on the IT Help Desk, logging and escalating calls and addressing the issues of walk in users.

 Responding to and resolving help desk calls in a timely manner

 Providing support to the Network Manager and other IT Technicians as and when required.

 Providing efficient and effective management of hardware loans and printer consumable distribution.

 Assist the department with network management tasks such as Active Directory & Google Apps administration.

 Assist with the monitoring and management of the schools internet filtering system.

 To ensure that all work is carried out to agreed standards and fully complies with the IT policies of Biddenham International School and Sports College.

 Provide staff with basic IT training where relevant and as directed.

 To provide help, as and when required, in ICT & computing lessons with practical demonstrations and configuration of software and/or hardware.

 To attend school INSET (eg: professional development days) and further training sessions to develop knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil the role.

 To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding, including PREVENT, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

 To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time commensurate with the responsibility level of this post, including covering for absent staff and assisting during periods of heavy workload.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW)
£8.21 per hour (if 25 or over)
£7.70 per hour (if aged 21 to 24 years)
£6.15 per hour (if aged 18 – 20 years)
£4.35 per hour (if under 18 years but above the compulsory school age)
