Brief Description

Join a team of electronic engineers to service and manufacture ruggedized lab test equipment for the Geophysics industry.

Qualifications Required

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, ideally including English, maths and science, or equivalent or a technical based subject such as engineering or product design. Alternatively you can progress from a relevant Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship programme

Personal Qualities

The applicant should be able to fit in with a team, have a technical aptitude and be able to think of solutions to problems. The applicant should want to work and have an ambition to become a real, qualified engineer.

Skills Required

An aptitude for engineering whether its working on their own PC, hobby electronics, audio/visual equipment in a home or academic environment.

Training to be Provided

The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:

NVQs (work-based learning)

Electrical and Electronic Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma (incorporating level 2 Performing Engineering Operations that is studied in the first year at College)

Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)

EAL level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering Technology
BTEC level 3 90-credit Diploma in Engineering
BTEC level 3 Diploma in Engineering

Future Prospects

We want to turn out a broad based - well rounded Electronic engineer. The applicant will gain a very high degree of industry relevant knowledge. We will look at this apprentice filling a role in the company upon completion of the training.

Vacancy Detail

Train with a mixture of former and current apprentices with experienced engineers.

The job involves :-
1. Fabricating cables and leads,
2. Using Mil-spec and high density connectors,
3. Testing and calibrating survey equipment,
4. Fault finding and diagnostics, PCB test and manufacture.

This position will be exposed to a very wide variety of electronics areas from PC/network/IP communication, analogue electronics, RF, digital logic and digital embedded systems, long distance data telemetry, Power supplies up to 1000V, working from circuit diagrams and assembly diagrams as well as test beds. The applicant will be trained to HND level Electronic engineering.
