Brief Description

With many years experience in the manufacture of panel wiring systems, our fully trained team offer a high level of service to our customers at all stages of a panel manufacturing process. We have an exciting opportunity for a new apprentice to join us.

Qualifications Required

At least 5 GCSE's including Maths & English A*-C (9-4)

Personal Qualities

Ability to work well within a team
Good time keeping and attendance qualities

Skills Required

An interest in electronics or electrical engineering.
Good hands on practical skills
An ability to learn new skills quickly

Training to be Provided

Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma, EAL Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma, BTEC or VRQ. Plus English, maths and ICT Functional Skills, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. You will study a range of topics including: Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering Organisational Efficiency and Improvement

We have a number of roles within the organisation that a successful candidate may be able to take. These range from semi-skilled and skilled wire-person then into Engineering support. Within the wider organisation there are roles in sales, marketing and support that could develop the career for someone keen to progress in a high tech Control, automation and software environment.

Vacancy Detail

The Apprentice role with be an active build role within our manufacturing facility. This will be predominantly hands-on activity contributing to our production requirements.

This would be 4-year term apprenticeship with utilisation efficiency developing over this period.

This will also incorporate a college expectation to a level of Engineering (Electrical / electronic) Btec level 3


The Electrical Control Panel Wire Person / Fitter duties will include assembling and wiring of various Control Cabinets & Panels. Candidates will gain experience of light duty electrical assembly, wiring Single and 3 Phase Power, Switching and Control Systems, also to a level for test and quality control.
The role will include:
• Panel Wiring.
• Mechanical assembly of components.
• Read and interpret engineering instructions to achieve specification.
• Time management and working to deadlines.

There will be a structured and support route for learning which will include but not be limited to:

Year 1 SKILLS TO LEARN
Drill bit sizes to screws sizes and tapping holes
Work from a layout drawing to measure, drill, build back plates
Understanding of schematic symbols
Printing of product labels
Trial kitting of jobs
Finding locations of parts and transacting
Allocating jobs to sales orders
Cable ident colour code
Cable sizes to max ampage
Cable colours and what they mean
Packing of tested products
Standard builds as described

YEAR 2 SKILLS TO LEARN
Work to wiring run out sheets
Work to cable drawings
Creating build documents

YEAR 3 SKILLS TO LEARN
Understanding schematic drawings
Working to schematic drawings
Marking out and building of enclosures
Marking and cutting out holes with jigsaw
Large cabinet builds

YEAR 4 SKILLS TO LEARN
Break jobs down for semi-skilled assembly
Create working run out sheets
Lead a multiple build project

As the successful candidate progresses through the apprenticeship they will be financially rewarded if criteria around their skills and education are met.
