Brief Description

Do you want to gain the training and basic skills to understand drawings and using hand tools?
Are you someone who wants to learn everything about Mechanical Design and the variety of equipment used?

Qualifications Required

You will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, including English, maths or equivalent.

Skills Required

Basic skills and understand of a machine shop environment are preferable, yet not critical.
Enthusiasm towards what you will be learning

Training to be Provided

Training will be provided in the CAD software Catia (also possibly Siemens NX).

Training will cover basic skills :
1. Working with different engineering materials
2. Using measuring equipment and various hand tools
3. Reading drawings for measurement purpose & quality
4. Based on a development plan there will be the opportunity in working with a full range of workshop machinery, CNC machines, manual mills, lathes, 3D Printers and saws.
5. At the end of the four year period, the candidate should be a competent mechanical engineer
