Brief Description

Generally assisting the engineering team with all aspects of land drainage and flood risk management that will increase in complexity and volume as the apprenticeship progresses.

Qualifications Required

A good standard of education including GCSE Maths and English grade A* - C (9-4), similar grades in Geography, Physics, Chemistry and IT would be helpful.

Personal Qualities

Honest, trustworthy, keen to learn, ability to work on own initiative, polite and well presented.

Skills Required

An aptitude for civil and drainage engineering.
Good communication and general information technology skills.

Future Prospects

Dependant on completion of qualification in a timely manner - it is hoped that the post holder will progress to become a key part of the engineering team.

Vacancy Detail

Generally assisting the engineering team with all aspects of land drainage and flood risk management that will increase in complexity and volume as the apprenticeship progresses.
Assist the Engineers with carrying out development control activities, including liaising and advising the planning authorities, Lead Local flood Authorities and developers of appropriate flood risk, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and development.

Assist the Engineers with carrying out Land Drainage Consenting and Byelaw administration,

Assist the Site Managers regarding maintenance activities, including timely preparation of job cards and issuing notices of entry.

Assist the Engineers with the management of the watercourse maintenance programme and capital engineering works.

Assist in flood protection and land drainage works by carrying out a range of engineering activities, including asset inspections and surveying.

Promote Health & Safety and Conservation, in accordance with the Boards’ policies.

Supporting Engineering, Rating and Finance officers with GIS and Asset Management System, including installing updates and map layers.

Other Information

The apprentice will need to be over 18.

Our Stewartby offices are in a semi rural location and the office team is fairly small (currently 12).
