Vacancy Detail

We have an exciting opportunity available for someone who would like to start their engineering career working in the automotive stamping industry. If you have a particular interest in graphic, technical or CAD design this could be the Apprenticeship for you.

We specialise in automotive press tool design, method planning and process planning. Our designers have an extensive experience and knowledge of customer requirements from all over the world. Press tool (or also known as die) design is a very highly skilled career path and gives a good insight into how flat sheet metal is stamped to form car panels.

The successful applicant will work within the Head Office at Silsoe, Bedfordshire where initial training will be given on the CAD software as well as a basic overview of customer standards. Involvement in the initial 2 years will develop depending on the applicant’s desire and ability to learn. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has an interest in the automotive stamping sector and wishes to specialise in design based engineering.

During the apprenticeship there will be opportunities to visit our 2nd office in Coventry, related manufacturing facilities initially in UK and also possibly Germany to help further the applicant’s skill base.

A suitable level of day release course will be included at Bedford College to gain further qualifications.

As an Apprentice for A&J Global Designs you will be trained in the following areas:

1. Creating 3D designs to customer specifications.
2. Working with other members of the team in trouble shooting.
3. Developing knowledge of design procedures used in different parts of the world and applying then to live relevant projects.
4. Increasing level of customer interaction as your knowledge increases.

Other Information

You will be based in an office environment, working on a computer for the majority of the week.
To be able to drive would be useful to get to the office everyday as the public transport is fairly sparse – but this is not essential.

The starting salary for this position is £180 per week but this will be reviewed every three/six months throughout your Apprenticeship
