Brief Description

The Achievement Learning Mentor will be working within a fully inclusive Sanctuary based at Biddenham International School. The purpose of the role will be to play an active part in the tutoring of students on a 1-1 basis or small group basis.

Qualifications Required

▪ GCSE English and Maths at A*- C (9-4) or equivalent.

Personal Qualities

▪ Ability to demonstrate patience, tact and diplomacy at all times
▪ Able to keep information confidential

Skills Required

▪ A calm and patient attitude
▪ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, listening, oral and non-verbal)
▪ Ability to multi-task ▪ Flexible attitude to working.

Vacancy Detail

The Achievement Learning Mentor will be working within a fully inclusive Sanctuary based at Biddenham International School. The purpose of the role will be to play an active part in the tutoring of students on a 1-1 basis or small group basis.

▪ To support students referred to the Sanctuary with their studies on a one-to-one and small group basis.
▪ To liaise with subject staff regarding student work, feedback and progress.
▪ Tracking and monitoring progress of students.
▪ Assist with administrative tasks as requested by the Sanctuary Manager.
▪ Oversee the Centre when the centre manager is out of the office. Assist students who may struggle in the mainstream classroom.
▪ Support students in their transition back to mainstream lessons.
▪ Analyse data supplied to the Centre.
▪ Contribute to the positive ethos of an inclusive environment.
▪ Contribute to a supportive, studious and structured working environment for students.
▪ Attend open evenings and other school functions, as required.
▪ Attend both team and staff meetings.
▪ Assist in the running of a student mentoring scheme.
▪ To work with the school Curriculum Group, Heads of Year and Heads of Department in the identification of those students requiring support.
▪ In co-operation with the subject teacher, prepare resources to enable the students to better access the curriculum
▪ To ensure that equality of opportunity, race equality, diversity and inclusion inform the implementation of duties/responsibilities.
▪ To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.
▪ To attend school INSET and further training sessions to develop knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil the role.
