Brief Description

This is a Medical Equipment Engineering Apprenticeship with a leading edge medical equipment where you will develop engineering skills and knowledge within the medical technology field. This is a varied role with many different aspects involved.

Qualifications Required

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, ideally including English, maths and science or a technical based subject such as engineering or product design.
Alternatively you can progress from a relevant Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship programme.
Driving licence or learning to drive would be desirable.

Personal Qualities

The right person for this role should be confident & personable with good communication skills to be able to deal with medical professionals & technical specialists.

Cardiac Services is a subsidiary of SISK, an independently owned company with diverse interests. Technical Support Engineer Apprenticeship with leading edge medical equipment. Mainly based in Eire, Cardiac Services UK is the UK arm of this dynamic, established company.

The field of medical technology is ever changing and frequently presents new challenges and methodologies requiring periods of self study to understand aspects of technical devices and their application within clinical environments.

This is a varied role with many different aspects from self supervision through to discussion of technical faults via phone and email providing support as required. Developing an understanding of differing principles, then being able to apply the principles to engineering applications within health.

Acceptance testing new medical devices.
Service of medical devices to manufactures specifications.
Repair of medical devices.
Electrical safety test of devices to IEC60601 or IEC 62353.
Configuring customer devices prior to despatch, this may include hardware options that require mechanical assembly, firmware options being installed & tested for functionality.
Recording of all work for traceability and maintain standards.
Support the ALS function for loan equipment.
Support account managers and others with technical queries for the medical devices supported, this may include site visits and discussions with technical teams wishing to implement paperless solutions using Wi-Fi networks or LAN within hospitals exploiting DICOM, ePDF etc.
Attend technical courses as required, these may be at manufacturers premises or on-line.
Engineers also support customer training throughout the UK and at Northampton facilities.
A high standard of English, written and spoken is required, especially for email & a desire to learn.
To support all of the above, company mobile phone, laptop and tools will be provided. Expenses are supported via an advanced float.

Other Information

This is primarily an indoor job and a need to be able to determine priorities to meet expectations is required.
