Brief Description

We require an apprentice fabricator to work in our busy door department to manufacture bespoke doors and windows for coldrooms.

Qualifications Required

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-D or 9-4 including English, maths and science or a technical subject such as engineering or product design. Alternatively you can progress from a relevant Level 2 Intermediate apprenticeship programme.

Personal Qualities

An enthusiastic individual with the ability to work as a team, using initiative and being proactive.
A certain level of physical fitness as the job entails some lifting and being on your feet for most of the day.

Skills Required

Confidence using power tools, use of templates, fabrication of flashings (flats, patches, angles, channels, reveals, top hats and Z-flashings from sheet metal (training of RAS bending machine will be given)- steel, aluminium and galv up to 2mm, use of guillotine, MIG welding (occasional) and knowledge of CNC operations (preferred).

Training to be Provided

The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:

NVQs (work-based learning)
•Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Technical Support NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma.


Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma
•EAL Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma.

We require an apprentice fabricator to work in our busy door department to manufacture bespoke doors and windows for coldrooms.

We are looking for an apprentice fabricator confident in using handheld power tools with the ability to operate accurately under pressure to tight deadlines.
There is some MIG welding of bollards/goalposts involved depending on customer orders.
Knowledge of operating a Bridgeport CNC Machine Centre would be a distinct advantage for small batch manufacturing runs.
We are a small company so ability to work in a team is a must where proactiveness and new ideas are encouraged.

Other Information

No shift work or working away involved.
We are a flexible company who fully understand the need to take time for study around exam periods.

The vacancy will involve long periods of being on your feet, but as a busy factory time passes quickly.
