Brief Description
The opportunity for a Research and Development Support Engineering Apprentice has become available at Luton-based company, Novoferm UK Ltd!
Qualifications Required
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4 including English, maths and science or a technical subject such as engineering or product design. Alternatively you can progress from a relevant Level 2 Intermediate apprenticeship programme.

Skills Required
Some previous work experience would be advantageous but not essential.
Training to be Provided
The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:
NVQs (work-based learning)
•Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Technical Support NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma.
Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma
•EAL Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma.
You will also have the opportunity to achieve the following additional qualifications:
•English, maths and ICT Functional Skills
•Employee Rights and Responsibilities
•Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:
•Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety
•Engineering Organisational Efficiency and Improvement
•Electrical and Electronic Principles
•Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding
•Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
•Advanced Milling
•Advanced Turning
You will also study specialist units depending on the pathway you choose.

We would very much like our Research and Development Support Apprentice to join us as a permanent employee once their studies are completed.

As our Research and Development Support Engineering Apprentice you will be involved in the following:
- To support our technical team in the R&D department
- Turning research ideas in to technical plans, using CAD programs
- Researching and assessing new products
- Reviewing mechanical systems and equipment to ensure the are operating effectively
- Learn how to manufacture garage doors
- Identifying and implementing manufacturing process improvements
- Learn how to spray doors
- Will be involved in R&D projects
Other Information
As we are a manufacturing company there will be times when you will be required to work on our production line. This can be noisy and cold.
