Brief Description

This apprenticeship is for an individual who is looking to learn how to design and build of PCBs for "Ultra Precision" machines. (Wage range: £162.13 (16-17 years) - £219.11 (18-20 years) £273.06 (21+)).

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths, Science and English at grade A-C or 9-4. Qualification in a technical subject is required such as Engineering, or Design Technology.
Preferred A Levels Maths, Science and/or English at grades A-D

The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:

NVQs (work-based learning)
•Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Technical Support NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma.


Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma
•EAL Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma.

Future Prospects

After successful completing the Engineering Apprenticeship you could potentially continue your career and studies to become Electronics Design Engineer then later possibly Electronics Design Supervisor.

We encourage our Apprentices to continue their studies to HNC as a minimum.

Vacancy Detail

This apprenticeship is for an individual who is looking to learn how to design and build of PCBs for "Ultra Precision" machines.

The duties of this role will include (but not be limited to):

Electronic circuit design.
Produce layouts of PCBs.
Produce parts lists and circuit diagrams for PCBs.
Manufacture prototype PCBs
Test and set up of new PCBs.
Test and repair of legacy control system PCBs.
Operate surface mount oven.
Collate machine electrical technical files.
Assist Project Managers and Engineers with customer demonstrations.
Supply design files for Project Design Engineers.
Component and connector stock ordering.
Stock control.
FPGA, PAL and PROM programming.
Assist Electronics Design Engineer.
Stock control of components and PCBs
