Brief Description

This apprenticeship will teach an individual about the building of Mechanical Assemblies for Cranfield Precision's range of Ultra Precision machine tools. (Wage range: £162.13 (16-17 years) - £219.11 (18-20 years) £273.06 (21+)).

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths, Science and English at grade A-C or 9-4.
Preferred A Levels Maths, Science and/or English at grades A-D
Qualification in a technical subject is required such as Engineering, or Design Technology.

Training to be Provided

The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:

NVQs (work-based learning)
•Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma
•Engineering Technical Support NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma.


Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)
•Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma
•EAL Engineering Technology Level 3 Diploma.

Future Prospects

Become a fully qualified machine tool fitter, become a lead Technician for
specific assemblies. Possibility in the long term to be Head Technician or
progress to Workshop Manager. There is also the possibility to become a Machine Designer or Process Development Engineer.

We encourage our Apprentices to continue their studies to HNC as a minimum. There is the opportunity for travel worldwide with machine installations, this usually happens during the fourth year.

Vacancy Detail

This apprenticeship will teach an individual about the build of Mechanical Assemblies for Cranfield Precision's range of Ultra Precision machine tools.

Duties of this role will include but not be limited to:
To learn a range of mechanical fitting skills and technics
while building mechanical assemblies for our range of Ultra
Precision grinding and turning machines. Learn how to use
workshop machines to produce and alter build components
required for assemblies. Use a range of measuring
equipment form dial indicators, micrometers, digital probes
to the latest laser interferometer technology to build, error
check and error compensate machine assemblies and
completed machines. Be part of the installation team
(usually starting in the fourth year) to install our machines in the
UK and worldwide.

Other Information

Work is based on the shop floor so workshop humour must be expected. Must enjoy getting hands dirty.
