Brief Description

We are looking to employ two enthusiastic apprentices. The successful applicants will complete a Technical certificate and progress to NVQ level while gaining invaluable work experience within our Power supply business

Qualifications Required

5 GCSE’s A-C including English Language, a Science subject and Maths

Personal Qualities

Excellent communication skills, a team player, friendly, flexible and adaptable to change, enjoys learning, with an eye for detail and takes satisfaction in a job well done.

Skills Required

A demonstrable interest in electronics with a logical and enquiring nature. The ability to fault find and proactively find resolutions to problems. Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Training to be Provided

The qualifications you will study to achieve will depend on your chosen pathway, and include:

NVQs (work-based learning)

Electrical and Electronic Engineering NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma (incorporating level 2 Performing Engineering Operations that is studied in the first year at College)

Technical Certificates (classroom-based learning)

EAL level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering Technology
BTEC level 3 90-credit Diploma in Engineering
BTEC level 3 Diploma in Engineering

Vacancy Detail

We are looking to employ two enthusiastic apprentices. The successful applicants will complete a Technical certificate and progress to NVQ level while gaining invaluable work experience within our Power supply business.

The successful applicant/s will follow a four year plan working in all relevant departments in addition to their studies. Key responsibilities will include: completion of the assigned college and on job education and certification, understanding of processes practices and procedures in all assigned departments, to become proficient in:


Soldering surface mount and PTH components to PCB’s
Mechanical assembly
Inspection of product
Operation of surface mount machinery
Application of coatings and adhesives
Procurement, sales and returns
Test, Environmental Stress Testing
Quality and planning
Engineering and Mechanical design
Fault finding
Technical documentation
PCB layout and all associated activities.
Day to day contact will be Supervisors or Managers within the assigned departments and overall to the Human Resources Manager.

Other Information

There are a number of Health and Safety hazards on site including high voltage electricity, lead and other chemicals. Candidates will be expected at times to work in environments where there may be noise, fumes and dust. Health and safety is paramount and we therefore expect full compliance to rules and regulations including wearing personal protective equipment and using extraction at all times where there is a risk. This is a varied role and therefore candidates must be flexible to undertake any reasonable tasks.
